OUR IMPACT
Research consistently shows that physical activity, time in nature, and social connection all support positive mental wellbeing. Surfing uniquely combines all three.
The Ripple Effect Wave Challenge uses the power of surfing to encourage healthier habits, stronger communities, and open conversations about mental health

2025 CHALLENGE

“I had been out of the surf for a while and the challenge got me back out there surfing again and reconnecting with mates. It’s good to be involved. Anything that helps mental health is a good thing, especially for men who don’t talk about things.”

“I decided to join the 'Ripple Effect Wave Challenge' because I know how much being in the ocean, surfing, and being part of a great community can help with feeling good mentally. Surfing has given me a lot of strength and peace and feeling connected to a community, and I wanted to share that with others. Right now, mental health and suicide are really important problems that affect so many people. I wanted to use the fundraiser to help spread awareness and show that no one has to go through tough times alone”

THE NEXT WAVE
The Ripple Effect Wave Challenge continues to grow as a movement encouraging Australians to surf more, connect with others, and prioritise activities that support their mental wellbeing.
We are currently developing the next stage of the initiative and new resources to help the surfing community get involved.
Your support helps us continue building this work and expanding its impact.
